The Crafter’s Guild organizes “Bohemian, the Bazaar for Handmade.”

Bohemian, the Bazaar for Handmade held 19th March 2023 was a culmination of efforts by the local craft community, hosted by Firefly. The event made its mark as a pre-Ramazan Eid bazaar catering to over 85 craft-based local businesses, small and large, with support from the community built by The Crafters Guild.

The participating organizations ranged from businesses and startups working with special needs individuals, artisans from interior Sindh, artisans from Balochistan, represented by the legendary folk singer, Akhtar Chennal Zehri, and countless women-owned and led businesses.

Overflowing with collaborators for Ramadan-inspired activities, including crafts to engage children, an art corner, food stalls, and the celebratory onset of the sacred month – the revenue generated from the whole event is diverted toward Ramazan initiatives such as Smile Sunshine – another one of Firefly’s social causes to uplift the Ramadan Dastarkhuan meal distribution to cater to the needy and the ones less fortunate than ourselves

Highlights of the event additionally include the presence of Zaamin – Nisa a sponsor and partner advocating to assist women with ownership of their homes – making them proud land owners. Magnus Communications and Spar (supermarket) are also key contributors and sponsors of the event leading to the success of Bohemian.

An exciting feature at the event was the Young Creatives segment, highlighting the uber-talented, young entrepreneurs set to make their mark at the bazaar under the age of 16! Their spirit, ideas, energy, and passion for handmade had been inspirational and encouraging to say the least.

Forifix, a local startup specializing in maintenance, repair, and general home improvement services powered the Little Readers Lounge. While Sara’s Henna had kept children busy with Ramadan-inspired canvases with paint cones powered by Blue Bird Arts. Totes Eco adopted a similar activity with Fabric Paints to create custom tote bags to be gifted and shared.

All in all, an exciting event, a stepping stone in the right direction for women entrepreneurs, and a community building milestone – the event was, to say the least – a huge success! We look forward to attending the next Bohemian with our loved ones and to share this event with those near and dear for them to be a part of something bigger than themselves and engage in a community for the people, by the people.
